AOC CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
S.T.A.R. Puppy Class
For puppies 3-6 months old. Puppies will be socialized to handle new situations and people. Owners are initiated in training basic obedience commands such as: come, sit and down. Also included are housetraining, general puppy care and leash training. This class includes preparation for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Test.
Beginner Class
For dogs 6 months and older. Everyday good manners and responsible dog ownership are taught through basic obedience. Topics include: controlled walking, coming when called, behavior problem solving, and general care. Students are prepared for the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test which is offered at our facility at the end of each class session.
Intermediate Class
For dogs who have progressed through the Beginner class or can demonstrate the skills tested by the CGC test. This class is for those who want more control over their dog or who would like to continue obedience training. Specific skills include: attentive controlled walking, sit & down stays, recalls, front, finishes, stand/stay and more.
Advanced Class
For dogs who have progressed through the Intermediate level. The Advanced Class will work on proofing and perfecting skills for students planning to enter Novice competition.
Competition Class
The Competition class will continue working on skills necessary for Novice competition, but will include AKC rules and ring procedure as well as introducing graduate novice exercises.
Beginning Rally Class
This class will include explanation and demo of the AKC signs and rules for Rally.
Rally Class
For dogs that have progressed through the Intermediate level. Participants will continue working to perfect their Obedience skills. The basic skills of Rally will be introduced and several exercises will be taught and practiced. Offered on demand.
Open & Utility Classes
For the competitive student. Emphasis is on jumping skills, retrieving, quick drops and out-of-sight sit/down stays. Offered on demand.
Introduction to Agility
For dogs that have progressed through the Beginner level. Participants will be introduced to the basic agility obstacles. The skills of attention and control of dogs off leash is enhanced. This class is fast paced and fun.
